Macatea's Birthday Widget for Dashboard in Mac OS X
Our birthday widget uses a database containing birthdays of 578 scientists, engineers, and inventors. It's a free download.
System requirements: Mac OS 10.4.x with Dashboard.

Widget Installation: (Exactly what happens depends on your browser and the version of OS 10.4 being used.)
- If a dialog box appears for installation, click on the "install" button and you're done.
- If no dialog box appears and you do not see the file TodaysBday.wdgt on your desktop, then it was probably automatically installed into Dashboard. Open Dashboard and see if the TodaysBday icon appears in the widget bar.
- If no dialog box appears but the file TodaysBday.wdgt is on your desktop, double-click on it.
- If a dialog box appears for installation, click on the "install" button and you're done.
- If no dialog box appears for installation, but Dashboard opens, then close Dashboard. Manually drag the file TodaysBday.wdgt from your desktop to the directory [your userid]/Library/Widgets/. Next, open Dashboard and click on the TodaysBday icon that appears in the widget bar. (To get the icon to appear, you may have to cycle the widget bar through all its icons.) Finally, you're done.
